345/138/69/12kV Substation - Texas

The purpose of this project was to provide engineering and design services to a leading utility client for the upgrading of their 345KV yard, 138KV and 69KV yard at their Substation located in Texas. This project included engineering and design for civil, electrical physical layout, grounding and lightning protection systems. Civil design included design of equipment steel and foundations.

Electrical design included replacement of existing 345KV, 138KV and 69KV oil filled circuit breakers for new gas insulated circuit breakers and associated switches. Completion of civil and foundation design for the installation of a new Drop-In-Control Module to house all the new 138KV and 69KV control panels. Also effort entailed completing the bus analysis for added 345KV bus structures to relocate the new 345KV breaker to a new position in the 345KV yard. RCMT provided engineering support during construction by responding to RFIs and other construction inquiries. The project was achieved by following an integrated design approach utilizing a 3D model from the outset of the project. 4D modeling had been developed and followed during the construction phase. 4D helped in construction planning, and subsequently during the construction phase as a progress reporting tool. Safety animations and slides were created to support the overall construction effort.
